One of a number of portraits I made of characters that fought to hold onto their family owned businesses in my village during the advent of the supermarket. Now, there are almost no shops in the street that used to be the only place one could buy their daily essentials before every house had a car.

One day, when fossil fuels have depleted, we will hope that these certain individuals have retained the essential skills in order to teach us the ways to survive and return to a more simple and basic local community way of life.
