Sanctified Stalemate

previous painting ........ next painting

I made this painting after being inspired by visiting the Sistine chapel and seeing Michelangelo's frescoes in person. I wanted to put a contemporary pop spin on the piece and touched upon a scene of Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs when the stalemate between two men ended in both being killed. The painting has the two figure in the same posture as The Creation of Adam, but in this painting Man is confronting his God with a weapon and God is also on the offense.

The painting deals with issues of man believing he is his own God and no longer respecting nor being responsible for any Deity or his world.
