Baby Rocks study number 2
16 x 20 in., oil on canvas, framed in a dark wood-effect maple float frame
Baby Rocks Study No. 2 is a small study of the red rock country, painted with an emphasis on the clarity of desert light and the vitality of direct observation. The warm cliffs, cool distant forms, and grazing horses create a quiet sense of scale within the open landscape. Though intimate in size, the painting holds the energy, color, and spaciousness of the Southwest.
