These small working boats, once essential to daily life and still used today, are part of the enduring character of Wissant. The village itself has long drawn painters, particularly in the early part of the last century, for its soft coastal light, understated beauty, and unspoiled charm.
 
Having returned to Wissant for over 30 years, I’ve come to appreciate not just its visual appeal, but its sense of continuity, where past and present quietly coexist. This painting is less about a specific moment and more about that feeling, the stillness, the familiarity, and the gentle passage of time.
